The Streaming Giant Casts Spot-On Performer for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Season 3
Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the major clash won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, popular member has now been chosen.
The platform declared Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay possesses the power to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that role re-envisioned as non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the original manga and cartoon version.
The new cast member joins multiple recently announced actors who will portray the group to the screen, such as leader the main antagonist, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.
Although Bon Clay is a important part of the organization, the character will be introduced in One Piece season 3. With the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this marks a significant shift in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest additional alterations to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the character. In addition to their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its season two on March 10, 2026.
